The snow absorbs the sound from nearby traffic and neighborhoods. There is a subtle crunch to the snow when you walk on it. And for a second, you forget how bitter cold the air feels. As much as I dislike the cold and trying to travel in the winter, I always enjoy stepping outside and hearing nothing for a few brief moments.
